Jim Stringer & The Austin Music Band: Swang!

From the moment this arrived at the Roadhouse Fever HQ, it's been getting maximum time in the CD player. Jim Stringer is one amazing guitarist. He can hold his own playing country, jazz, swing, rockabilly, blues, and R&B. Many of those styles are to be found on this super cool CD. There are too many songs worthy of mentioning--but on the radio program we've been getting good phone response for "Onward Charlie Christian's Soldiers," "Texas & Pacific," and "We Ran Out Of Love Baby Blue" (also on the Roadhouse Fever CD). Besides Stringer, there's exceptional support from his sidemen pianist T Jarrod Bonta, bassist Carl Casey, drummer Lee Porter, and guitarist Boomer Norman. Bonta and Alan Barnet are also featured as "guest" vocalists although Stringer is equally good behind the microphone as he is a picker. While much of Jim Stringer's acclaim has come from his work as a guitarist, this isn't a release for guitar freaks per se, but, instead, for people who just dig quality music.
